Radiate expands capabilities in AI and ML Engineering

With the advent of AI and ML, product development and with it the possibilities for engineering and design are about to change forever. Unlike traditional data-gathering technologies, AI and ML have the ability to learn from data and transform this knowledge into design guidelines for faster and better product development.

Radiate Engineering & Design is employing several facets of AI and ML to develop and launch new products and tools as well as to improve the existing ones. Together with our Lead AI Engineer, Massimo G. Brivio, we will be working on optimization and AI-enabled surrogate modeling to boost our capacity to deliver innovative and cutting-edge products.

The next step is to develop an AI-guided Design & Optimization Tool both for internal use and customer projects.
More to come, soon!

Welcome to the Team, Juan!

We are very happy that a new engineer has joined our team! Juan Ignacio Navarro Mañes joins us with immediate effect as a Mechanical Engineer with a special background in Bicycle Engineering.

Upon completion of a Bachelor and a Master degree in Mechanical Engineering in Spain, Juan moved to Germany where he did a second Master in product development at the RWTH. Thereafter he worked for a year in the electronics industry for an American company in the Netherlands. Finally, Juan worked at Thömus, a Swiss bicycle brand in Bern before joining RADIATE.

We’re glad to have him on board and wish him a successful start!

Teaming up with Mammut for a Circular Design Project

One of the biggest challenges today is using sustainable production processes integrated in a circular economy – because the world needs more circular economy friendly products. It is one of the challenges that also Radiate Engineering & Design, as a product innovation company, must meet.

We are therefore happy to announce that we are teaming up with Mammut Sports Group in order to explore the use of novel & sustainable materials for future product development. We are looking forward to the cooperation and to the joint development of a new product.

The partnership is fueled by the two partners, which complement each other well: Mammut Sports Group as an expert in the field of avalanche safety, mountaineering, climbing and outdoor equipment and Radiate Engineering & Design as an expert and innovator for novel materials and processes for highly stressed parts and components.

Following the steps of a simulation-driven product development approach we will test prototypes early in the process—in our lab but also in the field, as we strongly believe in the benefit of early testing paired with simulation-driven development.

More concrete information about the project will be published soon – so stay tuned.

Record: Mountain biker Nino Schurter celebrates 33rd World Cup victory

Hats off and congratulations to Nino Schurter, who celebrated his 33rd World Cup victory at the season opener in Petropolis, Brazil. He achieved the longed-for 33rd success in the World Cup and equals the record of Frenchman Julien Absalon. By the way, Nino Schurter was riding with the Silverton SL full carbon wheels, developed and engineered by Radiate Engineering & Design. The wheels are a key component adding to the overall package of a lightweight, fast and fun cross-country bike from our client, Scott Sports SA.

First look at the new OPIUM E-Bike

Our client Revolt Zycling has just launched a website for their long-range E-Bike called OPIUM.

The speed-pedelec comes with cutting-edge technologies to give riders the longest range on the market – up to 340km with one battery charge are possible.

Thanks to the Simulation-Driven design and engineering by the Radiate team, the frame of the OPIUM is particularly light, integrates all functions perfectly and lasts a bike life.

Revolt Zycling will present the OPIUM at Eurobike 2022, the leading global trade fair for bike businesses.

Finally, a beautiful E-Bike with great range!

Use of drones for doping control

Can anti-doping benefit from the use of drones? This is what our client RigiTech and the International Testing Agency (ITA) are going to find out. Together, they are on a mission and the goal is to test and develop innovative, faster and more environmentally friendly ways of transporting samples in anti-doping.

Find out more about this pilot project in the video.

New assignment for Tethys Robotics

Tethys Robotics is a Zurich-based startup that develops innovative underwater robots to tackle tasks in challenging environments, focusing on omnidirectional maneuverability, modularity and easy deployability. Their vision is to push sub-sea exploration in Switzerland and beyond since this topic has not really been touched on in the past. As an industry partner, Radiate Engineering & Design will assist Tethys in designing and manufacturing for the Tethys River Robot. We are looking forward to this new assignment!

New Project for Tour de Suisse Rad AG

It may be early in 2022 but there’s already a first new project coming up. We are very happy to announce that Radiate Engineering & Design teams up with Tour de Suisse Rad AG for the development and assessment of a new frame geometry. Tour de Suisse is a Swiss bicycle manufacturer from Kreuzlingen and is well known for its “à la Carte” system which allows the customer to put together his or her individual bike from a range of colours and equipment.
